The Barrandien Geo-Park (Geopark Barrandien) is situated in the yard of the Museum of Czech Karst, only a stone’s throw from the Hus Square. Beroun's "Certovka"Beroun’s "Certovka"

An island created by an artificial arm of the River Berounka in the vicinity of the historical centre reminds of the Certovka in Prague’s Kampa. Built as a mill-race, the arm used to have all the three Beroun’s major mills (Krizuv, Zajickuv and Pansky), which attained its present-day appearance by later alterations. None of the mills works today and the buildings have found a new commercial use. The bridge at the Zajicek Mill (Zajickuv mlyn) and the bridge at the winter stadium offer best views of the "Certovka".

The Town Hill Park (Lesopark Městská hora) is a sought-after place in the middle of the town for both Beroun’s residents and visitors. The relaxed environs host playgrounds for young and older children, as well as a bear garden and a newly renovated lookout tower from 1936.

Bear GardenBear Garden

Being Beroun’s heraldic animal, bear is included both in the emblem and flag of the town. Moreover, the town has had live bears since October 2000, namely three bear brothers named Vojta, Kuba and Matej who, when young, starred in a famous children’s programme on Czech TV. Occupying a slope of the Town Hill, the Garden includes three bedrooms, attendance room and an area of nearly 2,500 sq. m. The bear triplets were born in Cesky Krumlov, South Bohemia, to 14-year-old parents named Katerina and Vok. In their realm, the Beroun bears are looked after by two attendants, who also prepare various entertainments for them ranging from honeyed tree trunks over nut cracking to live carp in the pool. The Bear Garden is found in the centre of town, about 10 minutes away from the Hus Square or 15 minutes from the railway station.

walking trail from Brdatka
Walking Trail from Brdatka to Talich Valley

In the valley defined by Ded and Ostry Hills, beyond the northern border of the town, a walking trail winds its way between the Brdatka and the Talich Valley. The Trail focuses on local fauna and flora, as well as geology. Roughly three kilometres long and made up of twenty stops, it predominantly follows f orest paths. One of the stops concerns the early and mid 20th-century world known music conductor Vaclav Talich, who lived and is buried in the local graveyard. The Valley named in his honour also contains the villa where he used to live.

Pottery

BPotteryeroun’s potters were respected as skilful craftsmen in as early as the Middle Ages. They made their name by red earth production characterized by white natural motives, which was popular even with Emperor Rudolf II and was used for drinking at the coronation feast of King Matthias in 1611. Replicas of the Beroun pottery in 27 different shapes can be bought in the Town Information Centre, Hus Square.
