TransportTransport

Beroun is an important communication crossroads. The D5 motorway running from Prague to Pilsen and further to the Rozvadov border crossing provides a quick link to the capital city with airport in the eastern direction, and to Germany in the west. The main railway routes run to Prague, Pilsen, Pribram and Rakovnik. The buses go to the Zlicin and Nove Butovice metro stations in Prague. The dense network of roads branching off from the first class road leading from Kladno via Beroun to Pribram makes the town an easily accessible tourist destination.

Buses

a busA key point for all bus services is the station situated on the bank of the River Berounka, near the centre. The Hus Square can be reached within a few minutes by walk across the bridge. Among the most frequented services are the lines between Beroun and Prague. The journey to the Zlicin or Nove Butovice metro stops takes less than thirty minutes, and there are several buses an hour in peak times. The town and its surroundings are served by the MHD bus line system shared with neighbouring Kraluv Dvur. The fare can be paid in cash or by chip card. The red-and-white town buses are run by the Probo Trans Beroun company. Its information office is found in Plzenska Street, on the premises of the Dynastav company. Here the passengers can obtain complete information on bus services and timetables, buy tickets and seat reservations for buses throughout the Czech Republic, and reload their chip cards. www.probo.cz

Trains

TrainsThe history of Beroun as a significant railway junction goes back to the year 1862, which saw opening of the Czech Western Railway (Ceska zapadni draha) from Prague to Pilsen and further to Germany. The railway company then built a large passenger and cargo railway station on the town outskirts, which, continuously modernized, serves its purpose to this day. The main railway route runs from Prague via Pilsen to Cheb, the lines to Pribram and Rakovnik are sought after mainly by tourists. Beroun has two railway stations, Beroun and Beroun – Zavodi, the latter featuring a route via Rudna to Prague. Information on timetables and railway services is available at the Town Information Centre and at www.cd.cz.
